We were delighted to welcome Andy Seed to Sandford St Martin’s for a brilliant day celebrating reading, writing and creativity. Andy worked with every class across the school, sharing stories, humour and plenty of inspiration along the way.
The children were completely captivated by his energetic style and engaging workshops, which sparked lots of great ideas for their own writing.
The day began with a lively whole-school assembly where Andy introduced his books and talked about how he comes up with his ideas. His enthusiasm for reading was infectious and the children loved hearing about the inspiration behind his work. Throughout the day, Andy visited each class and encouraged pupils to think like real authors.
After school, Andy kindly stayed for a book signing event, which was very popular with families. We were thrilled to see so many books sold, with funds raised going straight back into our school book budget to help buy more great books for the children.
A big thank you to Pop-Up Bookshop for helping to organise such a memorable and inspiring visit.
Lidl’s visited our school last week and ran a great session talking to the children about healthy foods and why we need to eat healthily to keep our bodies working properly.
The children then got to taste a range of fruit and vegetables- lots of children trying things they haven’t tasted before!
We were invited to the grand opening of Sandford’s new Lidl’s store. Our School Council represented the school and were given a look around the store and behind the scenes.
On Sunday evening we were invited to attend the Wareham Lions Swim for charity awards presentation at the Purbeck Centre.
We were presented with the Endeavour Shield in recognition of the school community’s enthusiasm, commitment and success. This was collected by some
Year 6 pupils and Mr Dean was presented with a cheque for £2,738.
79 children swam for the school at the October 2025 Swim for Charity Event organised by Wareham Lions Club and 29 adults helped on the day.
A MASSIVE THANKYOU TO YOU ALL
We paid our respects on Tuesday with a special whole school assembly and by focusing our learning around Remembrance Day.
Thank you to everyone who donated and bought a poppy or an item from the sale.
