TOPIC WEB MEDIUM TERM PLANNING SUMMER 2 – Summer 2017

Wow!!  Another half term has just whizzed by!  Only one week to go until another holiday! We hope you all have a super half term holiday.

Looking forward to our next topic, Summer, we have linked a copy the topic web above.  You will also be able to find a copy of our topic ideas sheet in our ‘latest letters’ section.  It is always very important to us that the children have the opportunity to input their ideas into our planning, so any ideas or suggestions they have would be really valuable.

We are all really looking forward to starting our Summer topic and hope the children will have some super questions and ideas for us when we return.

Have a great break!

The Saplings Team

THE LITTLE ZOO!!!

As a part of our Summer themes we have recently been in touch with an exciting organisation who give children the opportunity to experience a variety of different creatures, bringing them to school settings – up close and personal!!!

The Little Zoo travel to school settings with a selection of different animals and give children the opportunity to touch, feel and get to know some new interesting friends.

We are hoping that it will be a wonderful opportunity for the children to ask questions and listen to some really interesting and knowledgeable professionals.

We have added the letter concerning the session to the ‘latest letters’ section, as well as sending a hard copy home with your child in their book bag.

The Saplings Team are very excited about the visitors and hope that the children find them both fascinating and fun!

Keep watching this space for some photos!!

Thanks,

The Saplings Team

People Who Help Us

Wow!!!  The first half of the Spring Term has just flown by.  The children have all absolutely loved finding out about transport and have produced some lovely work as a result.

Next Half Term’s theme is ‘People Who Help Us’.  Please find a new questionnaire in the latest letters – please can you use these with your child to find out what their interests and questions are about this topic.  We use these ideas to feed into our planning each week and it is a really important part of the planning process.

We all hope you have a fantastic half term and look forward to seeing you all after the holiday.

FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL!

What a fantastic first week at school our new Saplings have had.  It seems to have flown by with so many exciting and new things to get to know.

The children have been fantastic this week and have all settled really well. It is lovely to see them making new friends and playing together so nicely.

This half term our theme is ‘All About Me’ and this week we have been thinking about our favourite things and counting the different parts of our body. The children have all been excellent at communicating their ideas and have produced some beautiful first pieces of work.

Thank you to all the new Saplings parents and carers for your support this week in helping the children settle so quickly, we look forward to seeing everyone’s smiley, happy faces on Monday, ready for our second week at school!

Many thanks,

The Saplings Team

A HAPPY FIRST DAY!!

Wow! How quickly our first day together has gone!

The new Saplings children have all been fantastic and we have all loved meeting them properly.

Today has been busily spent getting to know our fabulous classroom and the wider school campus and community.

Thank you all, children included, for such a brilliant first morning. The children all settled amazingly well this morning and went on to have a happy and busy day.

We all look forward to seeing everyone’s smiley, happy faces again tomorrow.

Many thanks,

The Saplings Team

Nursery Rhyme Nativity!

We are all so excited in Saplings in anticipation of tomorrow’s nativity extravaganza!

The children have all been working very hard for the past few weeks learning songs and lines. Thank you to everyone for your help learning lines and gathering clothes for costumes, we hope you will all enjoy the fruits of your and their work.

As you know, on Thursday there will be two showings of our Nativity, one during the day at 2:00pm and one in the evening, starting at 6:00pm. Please can we ask that the children are back at school and ready to start changing into their costumes at 5:30, so we can be prompt starting the performance at 6:00pm. If you are able to stay and help getting your child changed into their costume it would be most appreciated!

Thank you again for all your cooperation in getting ready for this special time of year, and we look forward to seeing you at the performances.

Mrs Pampin and Mr Sanderson

Next week (16.11.15) we will be thinking about the celebration Diwali. Part of this will involve the children working together to make a Lassi smoothie. The ingredients for this are yoghurt, milk ,mango and sugar. If you know that your child is allergic to any of the above please let us know.

Shubh Deepawali from everyone in Saplings!

Celebrations! AUTUMN 2 Topic Web Next half term in Saplings we will be focusing on the topic ‘Celebrations’.  This is a really exciting topic in which we plan to look at all sorts of different celebrations and festivals from around the world. Mrs Pampin and Mr Sanderson   Can we please ask that all children have Wellington boots in school this Thursday (15th October) as we will be going on a welly walk in our Phonics session. Any problems please let us know. Thanks   In Phonics today the children began to learn the individual letter sounds. Don’t forget that tomorrow (Tuesday) sound books will be coming home for parents / carers to help children to complete the new sound. Please remember the key thing is to have fun with your child whilst learning each sound. If there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask a member of the Saplings team. Good luck!

Welcome to Saplings! We hope you have had a lovely Summer and are as excited as we are to be starting school this September. Mr Sanderson and I are looking forward to meeting you all in your school uniform.  This is the beginning of a wonderful journey which we look forward to be a part of with you and your family.  School starts between 8.35 and 8.45am, and children should be picked up at 3.05pm.
