Year 5 have really enjoyed becoming scientists recently and we’ve been conducting some really exciting experiments. We’ve seen how bicarbonate of soda and vinegar react with each other to form a volcano of carbon dioxide, then conducted the same experiment using bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice. We loved watching the mixtures bubble up and spill over! We’ve also been stinking out our classrooms by investigating how vinegar can make a Brillo pad go rusty! This week we created a fair test to see what would be best to keep a can of drink cold. This saw us wrapping chunks of ice in various materials then recording the results after set periods of time. It was great fun!
