Over the last half term, children in Hawthorn and the rest of Phase Three have been immersed in the world of fairy tales. However, these were no ordinary fairy tales, these were the original gory versions told during the Victorian times! After looking at, and comparing some of the original tales first published by the Grimm brothers, it was time to create our own.

First we worked in groups to come up with a plan for our very own ‘Grimm’ tale.

We then enjoyed getting into character by acting out our stories for the rest of the class.

Finally, we drew detailed story maps and used these to tell each other our own versions of the group stories.

After all this work, we were then ready to get to business and write our very own stories. We used all the knowledge of the gory stories we had collected over the weeks and worked super hard to produced some amazing Grimm style tales!
