We are excited to announce a new story writing competition we’re introducing for the pupils here at Sandford Primary School. The competition has been designed and will be run by the Year 6 librarians (with a little help from staff to make sure things go smoothly!)  Children will find 3 words tied to our library book tree, and they need to include these words in a story up to 1 A4 page in length. The story can be on any topic, and can be hand-written or typed – just make sure we can understand the writing. The story needs to be in the entry basket in the library 2 weeks from when the words appear – the first story is due in by the morning of Friday the 5th of February. A winner and runner up will be chosen for KS1 and KS2 – the winners will be announced in the celebration assembly that same day, certificates will be given out, and the winning stories will be displayed on a board near the library.

Then on the Monday after (in this case Monday the 8th of February) 3 new words will appear and the competition will begin again (these will be due in on the 26th February as there will be extra time to write over half-term)! All winning stories will be kept until the end of the year, when an overall winner will be chosen for each Key Stage to receive a small prize.

We hope everyone will get excited about writing their own imaginative tales and we can’t wait to read them!
